La Forestale, a unique place. After a world tour, Don Merlino has created a Luxury Ecolodge in a particularly exceptional and preserved site : The National Natural Reserve of the Furlo Canyon.
A total immersion in a pure nature, a paradise of peace and wellness that combines design, Sustainability and Italian Gastronomy. A new experience for unforgettable holidays in the heart of the eternal Italy.
Design has always been Don Merlino’s passion. And part of his job. So, by taking over this old barracks of foresters, abandoned for 30 years, he immediately understood the potential of this modernist reinforced concrete construction of 1954.
La Forestale, a positive and educational approach. As a recognized expert in sustainable development, Don Merlino has put all his knowledge into the project: respecting the surrounding nature, minimizing consumption, favoring renewable energies, aiming for energy autonomy.
La Forestale, a place where it is good to eat! So think of this, in the hamlet of Furlo alone, 50 inhabitants and no less than 5 restaurants!
Located in the town of Acqualagna, Capital of the white truffle and the only city in the world to claim the truffle all year (there are no less than 9 kinds of truffles on the territory), La Forestale is the ideal starting point to discover all the gastronomic wonders of the Marche Region.
Nestled in the heart of the State Reserve of the Furlo Canyon
The Furlo is an incredibly preserved place: a true paradise for wilderness lovers. The Candigliano River, renowned for its rather unreal emerald color, meanders between the imposing rock walls of the Furlo Gorge, beauties shaped over millennia by the river. For successful selfies 😉
It is an extraordinarily rich place in every aspect: geological and geomorphological wonders, prehistoric sites and palaeontological sites, exceptional biodiversity of fauna and flora. Not to mention the historical part that embraces the Etruscan, the wealth of Roman civilization (the Gola del Furlo is on the Via Flaminia, Roman road that connected the Adriatic to Rome) to Benito Mussolini who spent his summer holidays at Furlo ( where you can still visit the vestiges of the dining room and bedroom of the Duce, for those interested).
But above all, especially, the Reserve is the paradise of the outdoor: walking first, small walks or large loops of trekking, cycling, road or mountain bike. A lot of markup work has been done in recent years to present an offer of marked trails for all levels.
Moreover, here you can also practice climbing. And the water games: kayaking, canyoning, swimming in the rivers, …
We are close to the see!
And from the charming seaside resorts of the Adriatic and their beautiful beaches : with 180 km of coast and 26 places overlooking the sea, the Region is an essential place for sea lovers.
